The Kingdom of Lesotho National Day Celebrated at Expo 2023 Doha

The land locked country located at the southern tip of the African continent took central stage on Expo 2023 Doha grounds as it celebrated its national day in the presence of distinguished guests from the Kingdom of Lesotho and Expo 2023 Doha representatives led by Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner General Ambassador Bader bin Omar Al-Dafa and secretary-general of Expo Doha 2023, Mohammed Ali Al Khouri.

Celebrations kicked off with an outdoor flag raising ritual in the vicinity of the expo house, during which both the Qatari and Lesotho flags were raised accompanied by respective national anthems. The solemn debut was followed by a riveting dancing performance known as mokebo dance, which was performed by a dance company dressed in traditional attires.

Attendees were thereafter ferried to the Lesotho pavilion where visitors were invited to immerse into the history of Lesotho and the pivotal stages that indigenous people went through, with an emphasis on pride in identity and the preservation of culture and social traditions over the centuries.

The pavilion was also characterized by a captivating storytelling which narrated the hardships of Lesotho and how it has overcome many challenges and changes over the years, until it achieved independence. The pavilion went on to display stories of courage and the spirit of resistance that are distinctive of the identity of the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The Lesotho national day was an opportune occasion to highlight the crucial place that agriculture holds in the country’s economy and display it most important agricultural products such as corn, wheat, and barley.
