General

  • Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar will take place from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024.

  • The event will take place at Al Bidda site, one of the most cherished public spaces located in the heart of Doha city and it will cover an area of over 150 hectares.

  • The Al Bidda site will be divided into three zones being programmed to enhance the event’s unique yet complimentary offering:

     

    • International Area: will be the expo’s gateway and focal point of international garden, exhibitions and events.

     

    • Family Area: will utilise a wealth of existing features and act as a hub for family fun, activities, gathering and outdoor pursuits.

     

    • Cultural Area: will make it the perfect venue for cultural and traditional activities and exhibitions due to its proximity to the historical core of Doha and its onsite features of the Old Fort and Old Rocks.

     

    The exhibition site will also be transformed into an “international fan zone” for the 2022 World Cup and to the city’s main green centre, Doha Grand Park, after the expo.

Expo 2023

  • It is the first horticultural International exhibition to be held in the Middle East in a desert inclosed situation. It is a global moment of convergence for all those connected by the arts, crafts, technology and love of the growth of plants and flowers. It is a celebration of Innovation in horticulture and green living.

  • The goal is to encourage, inspire and inform people about innovative solutions and the reduction of desertification. Successful results require international cooperation around the same goal and key strategic solutions.

    Once, greening the desert was a challenge. Now, a green desert is possible, and to maintain it is an ever more important topic since it can be an answer to global water, energy, and food scarcity problems.

    To achieve a green desert, people need to come together to exchange information, technology and innovations for transforming agriculture and lifestyles. By turning the desert into a greener place, the fight against desertification can be helped.

  • The theme of Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar is "Green Desert, Better Environment”, a mission that is supported by four sub-themes:

    To achieve a green desert, people need to come together to exchange information, use technology and be innovative to transform agriculture and life style. If we can turn the desert into a greener place, we can help fight desertification. To this end, four subthemes are proposed:
    - Modern Agriculture; providing innovation, research and scientific advancements to produce safe, sustainable and affordable food for the increasing population of the world.
    - Technology & Innovation; a vehicle for future green solutions, while playing an important role in changing direction in the use of fossil fuels, creating solutions for urban industrial pollution and advancing alternatives for chemical-intensive agriculture.
    - Environmental Awareness; a tool for encouraging the protection of natural resources, raising a sense of connection to the natural world and promoting sustainable development.
    - Sustainability; is mans’ common objective for balancing different needs along with awareness about economy, technology, environment and social sciences.

     

  • Expo 2023 Doha Qatar will be organised in the context that climate, water and soil are indispensable and endangered resources.

    In line with Qatar National Vision 2030 the objectives of Expo2023 Qatar are:

    • Host the first horticultural exhibition in a region with a desert climate.
    • Foster international cooperation on environmental, cultural and financial issues.
    • Address the global common challenge: Desertification.
    • Invite the global horticultural sector to share knowledge and experience in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
    • Lead the region in how the Green City Concept can be applied in the Middle East.
    • Encourage horticultural innovation around the climate, water and soil situation in Qatar.
    • Stimulate international investments and business opportunities for foreign countries in Qatar.
    • Establish a connection between Green, ‘sport’ and human health.
