The Qatar Human Rights Day was marked by the inauguration of the National Human Rights Committee pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha. As a prelude to the inauguration, inspirational speeches were delivered by her excellency Mrs. Maryam Bint Abdullah Al- Attiyah, chairman of the national human rights committee, and His Excellency Mr. Mubarak Bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti, president of the Qatari lawyers’ association who, collectively, reiterated their commitment to advancing the human rights agenda in the state of Qatar.

In his speech, His Excellency Mr. Mubarak Bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti paid tribute to indigenous law firms that cooperated with the National Human Rights Committee and reminded attendees of the great strides that the state of Qatar achieved in advancing Human rights domestically. The speech was followed by a distribution of certificates to deserving law professionals, as a token of appreciation and recognition. The pinnacle of the event saw both esteemed speakers sign a memorandum of understanding underscoring their willingness to collaborate closely in the future.

The inauguration of the NHRC pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha marks a significant milestone in the collective journey towards achieving sustainable development goals, viewed through the prism of human rights. The event underscored NHRC's role in bridging the gap between policies and communities’ aspirations, ensuring that their voices are a key ingredient to shaping a sustainable future. By aligning with Expo 2023 Doha, the NHRC confirms that it is part and parcel of the progress towards sustainability.

The event also served to elevate the conversation around human rights within the context of sustainability, aligning with Expo 2023 Doha's vision for a greener, more equitable future. The NHRC's involvement particularly stresses the importance of human rights in the realm of environmental justice and access to natural resources, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnection between human well-being and environmental health.

This commitment was further demonstrated at a prior event at Expo 2023 Doha, where the NHRC launched the book "Protecting the Right to a Healthy Environment in the State of Qatar (Legal and Practical Study)" on October 31st. This publication is a crucial resource for understanding and implementing environmental protection strategies within the human rights framework, reinforcing the NHRC's dedication to embedding human rights into all aspects of sustainable development.
