The Republic of Ghana Celebrates its National Day at Expo 2023 Doha

March 10, 2024

The West African nation was celebrated on Expo 2023 grounds on the closing day of a long series of national day celebrations of participating countries. With the presence of a Ghanaian delegation, the ceremony had a solemn debut as it kicked off with an outdoor flag raising ritual in the vicinity of the expo house, during which both the Qatari and Ghanaian flags were raised accompanied by respective national anthems.

Commenting on the special occasion, Samira Bawumia, the Ghanian second Lady and the spouse of the Vice president of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, stressed the remarkable strides to modernize the agricultural sector in Ghana and the country’s unwavering commitment to achieving food security, paving the way for Ghana to become one of West Africa’s first nations to achieve such a commendable feat.

With a view to immerse in a wealth of Ghanian culture, esteemed guests were thereafter ferried to the Ghanian pavilion where they were greeted by a Ghanian contingent dressed in traditional attire and performing captivating soul-stirring melodies that embody the essence of Ghanaian heritage.

This celebration stands as a reminder that the challenges brought about by climate change, such as desertification and acute water shortages in arid lands, have a global significance. It will take concerted efforts from all nations across the globe to find new and innovative ways to fend off the risks of climate change and rising global temperatures.
